Indian equity benchmarks ended lower on Monday, dragged by weakness in metal and IT stocks. The Sensex fell 0.40% to 76,597.27, while the Nifty 50 declined 0.39% to 24,080.40. On the technical front, Nifty support is placed at 24,000–23,900, while resistance is seen at 24,200–24,300.
US Market Recap
US stocks opened lower as renewed military tensions between the US and Iran raised concerns over the Strait of Hormuz. The Dow Jones fell 0.63%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite declined 0.38% and 0.32%, respectively. Investors remained cautious amid concerns that further escalation could affect energy supplies and inflation.
Asian Market Update
Asian markets traded lower on Tuesday as renewed tensions in the Middle East weighed on investor sentiment. Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 0.49%, South Korea’s Kospi declined 0.42%, and Australia’s ASX 200 slipped 0.31%. Investors remained focused on developments around the US-Iran conflict and their potential impact on global energy markets.
Commodity Check
Oil prices extended gains for a second session as renewed US-Iran hostilities raised concerns over disruptions to crude supplies through the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude traded around $91 a barrel, while WTI moved above $86 after rising 2.8% on Monday. Although oil shipments continue, shipping activity remains cautious as geopolitical risks persist, keeping supply concerns elevated.

- Sanofi India: Received GST show-cause notice alleging misclassification of certain products at 5% GST instead of 12% for FY21. Tax demand of Rs 36.39 crore and equivalent penalty of Rs 36.39 crore proposed.
- JM Financial: CRISIL assigns AA/Stable rating to Rs 100 crore non-convertible debentures.
- Anupam Rasayan: CRISIL continues ratings on Rs 1,620 crore bank facilities and Rs 160 crore NCDs at A+/Watch Developing. Short-term rating maintained at A1/Watch Developing.
- Welspun Corp: Cancelled proposed sale of 26% stake in Clean Max Dhyuthi to promoter group company Welspun Living for Rs 7.6 crore. Transaction will not proceed due to current power demand-supply considerations.
